Race For Life

May 26th, 2008

Well as you can see by the clever widget below I am doing Race for Life this year, having never done it before I am a little nervous but looking forward to doing it. Two years ago my Dad found out he had prostrate cancer, I remember the day we found out, I was heavily pregnant with Rhys at the time and as a family we felt like our whole world had crashed down. My Dad of course was devastated. Now two years on my Dad is doing great. He has responded really well to the regular treatments and blood results that come back show that his cancer cells have lowered quite considerably. Anyway, this is why I am taking part in Race for Life to celebrate how well my Dad has done, so please sponsor me even if it’s a £1 or 50P!!!:) Thank you xxx

Getting there….

October 19th, 2007

Well we have been trying to potty train Lucy on and off for a few months now but started properly about two weeks ago. It was a slow start with alot of accidents and it’s so easy to feel like giving up because you feel like progress is getting no where. Anyway last Thursday she told me she wanted to wear big girl pants and for the rest of that day (apart from 2 mishaps) she was dry. I was soooooooooooo chuffed! She still isn’t completely there as she won’t always tell you if she needs to go but none the less we have some progress!

This week we wen to visit a Nursery in Cathays, seems really nice, the staff are really friendly and the hall is huge and the toys are fab. Took both the kids and within seconds they had left me to go discover! So, we are going back next Thursday for another visit but this time I will stay for a bit and then leave (just go for a walk in the area) to see how Lucy copes on her own. I’ve no doubt she’ll be ok as she has gone to playgroup lots of times and she is quite confident but she has never really been left with anyone except family so it will be interesting to find out how she is. It’s funny as it seems we’ve met another milestone for her to go there, she has been reaching alot of them lately bless her. I am looking forward to having a bit of time with just Rhys though. Ever since he was born we haven’t had much of that so it will be good to have some time to sit and play, draw and make play dough with him :)

Today has been a hectic day went out to Royal Glamorgan hospital with my sis Linda for her 12 week scan. It was where I went on both Lucy and Rhys and was so strange to go back there- so much has changed already! Anyway, the scan was lovely, Lucy came in and was mesmerised by the tv- it certainly wasn’t Tellytubbies! lol the baby is all healthy and well and is due 28 April which will mean we will be Aunty and Uncle twice within a short space of time as Nastassja is expecting too. I am really looking forward to these babies being born and having lots of cuddles, it will help any broodiness I have. Yes, I’m still broody but I think got my hands full with these two (not including Ritchie of course!!!) so we’ll wait a while. The lovely thing about being an Aunty is the cuddles but being able to give them back at the end of the day :) xxx

What’s been happening…

September 20th, 2007

Well leading on from the last post Lucy is still without her dummy. She occasionally asks for it if she’s see Rhys with one but understamds when we say they are broken now. None the less bed time is certainly more eventful these days now she is minus a dummy and in a bed, some nights she can take as much as an hour and a half to go to bed which can be really hard work. She is also going through the dreaded terrible twos, Lucy has always had tantrums but nothing can prepare you for the kind of tantrums she has these days. It can be very tiring and dis-heartning but after talking through with other parents and reading a book on Toddler Taming you just have to realise it’ s just their way of getting to grip with their emotions and a stage that WILL pass (and boy I can’t wait for this to pass!!)

Rhys on the other hand is doing really well, he is talking so much more now and saying words like “thank you”, “love you” and “bye”. He is full of energy these days and still very much the Mammy’s boy. He is the complete opposite to Lucy when going to bed, he is usually sleeping heavy within 10 minutes of putting him down which is good as Lucy can be loud!

Ritchie is extremely busy in work at the moment lots of changes and things happening. I can’t go in to detail as I don’t know much about it :) But also when he’s home he is busy working on his new site, which will launch just after Christmas if not before. There is not much to see right now but you can go online and register to be one of the first to see the pre-launch. It’s www.rememberonline.co.uk

I have been to the dentist to have a wisdom tooth out so have been suffering with the pain of that the last week, but now that’s subsiding a cold is taking it place, nice :) My Mum is doing well (thanks to all of you who have asked about her) she is making really good pregress and has even at really good moments been able to walk around the kitchen without the use of crutches or sticks. The only thing that is holding her back now is the lack of sleep she is getting due to the pain at night she gets with her knees but hopefully in time that will all get better.
